Best Sandwich Free Lunch Box Ideas

Sandwich for lunch break is a tale as old as time. Yes, it is the most American thing you can think of, but, eating the same sandwich day after day may become a bit boring for you and your kids. Here, we offer you different sandwich free lunch box ideas. And, most of these ideas are nut-free, corresponding to the laws of almost all schools to omit foods that can be allergenic.

FOOD IN STICKS

Think sausage kebabs, beef skewers or chicken satays. For kids, everything is yummier on a stick. Just remember to use the bamboo sticks which are blunt-edged and not the shabby ones like toothpicks. Pack these sticks with sliced mango, sliced cucumbers, pretzels covered in yogurt or with rice. 

QUESADILLAS

Kids love quesadillas. And, contrary to popular belief, quesadillas don’t need to be hot to be yummy. Pack them with tortilla chips, jicama sticks, pumpkin seeds, pineapple chunks or avocado slices.

SPRING ROLLS

Large lettuce leaves or wrappers made of rice paper are great for making rolls. Make them fun by trying out recipes like rainbow rolls, or have fun with your kid and make them together. You can fill the rolls with tofu, shrimp or pork. Pack the rolls with chocolate square, cubed cheese or meat, blueberries or red bell peppers.

DELI MEAT ROLL UPS

Make your kid love his linch box with roast beef, ham or turkey around cream cheese, greens or cheese sticks. Pack them with whole-wheat pretzels, coconut macaroon, apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon or with celery.

ONIGIRI OR VEGETABLE SUSHI

If you have leftover cooked fish and rice, make sushi for tomorrow’s lunch box. Pack the sushi with edamame, snickerdoodle cookie,sushi condiments or raspberries.

NOODLE SALADS

Think about foods like plain udon or soba with black sesame seeds. Pack them with snap peas, chocolate raisins, clementines, tinned fish or cubed chicken.

PITA PLATE AND HUMMUS

Very kid loves the taste of hummus. So, make it the star of the show, or of your lunch box. Pack it with salami, carrots, grapes, tomatoes or olives. Pack the hummus in a separate container. You’ll make dipping easier this way.

QUINOA SALAD

Mix the quinoa with meats, veggies and cheeses and dress the salad with vinaigrette. Pack the salad with popcorn, baby brownie, tomato lollipop, basil lollipops, mozzarella lollipops or with pear slices.
