Can I Prevent Acne with the Right Food? Lunch box Tips

Knowing a couple of worthy lunch box tips can change your entire outlook and quality of life. It is a known fact that processed foods which are unhealthy for the body and overall health are also unhealthy for the skin. Refined carbs can easily spike up the insulin in the body, and thus, the sebum production starts to rise and as a final result, the pores on your skin start to clog easily.

The best way to avoid acne is through eating healthy foods, such as veggies and fruits, lean protein and whole grains. One thing that needs to be avoided by everyone who has problems with acne is sugar. Sugar will not help you lose all the blemishes, redness and acne. The best way to do this is by eating antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, not Snickers or Kit-Kat bars.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and should never be avoided, especially for children who are more active throughout the day. The first lunch box meal we recommend is a walnut and blueberry smoothie. This smoothie is the perfect antioxidant that will keep your body and your skin healthy. Walnut milk is a great substitute for milk, because if you are trying to avoid every ingredient that causes acne, then you should also avoid dairy – especially milk.

If you do not know how to make walnut milk or there’s no walnut milk in your area, you can buy coconut, rice or almond milk. However, we prefer walnuts because they contain magnesium- and magnesium is one element that helps normal blood flow throughout the human’s skin.

The second lunch box meal on our list is a quinoa cereal breakfast with bitter almonds and fresh berries. This is a perfect, whole grains meal which contains selenium. Selenium is helpful for skin damage and skin elasticity, and on the other hand, blueberries are the perfect anthocyanin antioxidant. Antioxidants are well known for fighting off all kinds of damages on the skin’s surface. Almonds contain a lot of the most important vitamin for the skin – vitamin E, which protects the skin from the damaging UV sun rays.

Another lunch box idea for clear skin and a healthy body is pumpkin pie oatmeal breakfast. Pumpkin and oats are healthy and are not that easily digested by the body, and thus, they do not spike the levels of blood sugar as fast as carbs, such as white bread. Pumpkin contains a very important provitamin – beta carotene, which is converted into vitamin A. This vitamin is also very important for skin’s elasticity and it helps the skin regain its natural moisturizing abilities.

Another lunch box recipe that can be helpful for acne-prone skin or skin damage is kale salad containing fresh pomegranate seeds. You can also add some quinoa, pecans, avocado, goat or brie cheese, lemon vinaigrette and extra virgin olive oil. Leafy greens contain vitamin K, the perfect antioxidant for the skin’s surface that is easily damaged by the dangerous UV rays. On the other hand, pomegranate are the perfect antioxidant that will help the skin fight off any kind of inflammation. If you do not like pomegranate seeds, the perfect substitute would be fresh cranberries.
